Tourism Enhancement Project,
Cree Nation of Waskaganish

Over the past several years, Know History has worked closely with the Cree Nation of Waskaganish to create a variety of interpretive products to support their ongoing efforts to enhance the tourism industry in the region.

The project began with a community kick-off and engagement session to discuss the community’s goals and the stories they wished to share. This community driven project involved extensive collaboration as we co-created interpretive panels and worked with local community members to bring their vision to life.

Based on information gathered through engagement sessions, Know History worked with key stakeholders to create a series of interpretive signs along an outdoor path. Know History designers also created a guidebook to support boat captains and an illustrated interpretive map for tourists. Up next, Know History will work collaboratively with Défi-Évasion, an innovative game-building company, to create an interactive scavenger hunt for families to complete as they explore the community! Our designers will also be creating a viewfinder and historic decal to add to the sites in the community.
