Gallery Renovation,
Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre
Know History is collaborating with the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre to refresh their beautiful exhibit space in Whistler, British Columbia.

The centre is the first of its kind in Canada and was built to share important cultural knowledge and to inspire understanding and respect amongst all people. The original permanent gallery was installed for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Now, Know History is working with the curation team to refresh the gallery while retaining the original vision of the centre that was carefully and thoughtfully created by the community.
The main goals of the renovation are to enhance the storytelling capacity of the space and to provide visitors with valuable knowledge about this special place and the people who have lived here since time immemorial. The project began with a collaborative interpretive planning workshop and has expanded to include archival research, interpretive writing, design, fabrication and installation.
