Faces of Canada Today,
Juno Beach Centre

Know History and the Juno Beach Centre Association forged a collaborative partnership to create a permanent exhibit that explores Canadian history following the conclusion of the Second World War. The exhibit, titled Faces of Canada Today, is on permanent display at the Juno Beach Centre in Courseulles-sur-Mer, France.

The project team highlighted the diverse stories of Canadians through a highly collaborative process, researching and writing alongside members of the Juno Beach Centre Association. Through a series of in-person and virtual planning sessions, Know History and the Juno Beach Centre Association reimagined an exhibit to captivate audiences with archival research and oral history interviews that brought meaningful stories and outstanding visuals to life. Together, we created an interpretive plan that pushed the most important stories and artifacts to the forefront of the historic experience.

With extensive knowledge in negotiating rights to acquire artifacts, Know History researched, identified, and acquired invaluable assets that championed the key values of the Juno Beach Centre Association.

The Juno Beach Centre Association Exhibition team’s partnership with Know History was a great success! Together, we were able to tackle the major challenge of renewing our permanent gallery “Faces of Canada Today”, an exhibition about contemporary Canada, the legacies of Second World War veterans in Canadian society, the multitude of Canadian identities and Canada’s role abroad since 1945. The breadth and scope of this undertaking was both exciting and daunting to our team and Know History’s expertise, talent, and passion positively impacted the project at all levels. From research and interpretive planning to database management and writing, the Know History team accompanied us every step of the way with attentiveness, care and professionalism.
